Brassia (Brs.) Rex is a primary hybrid of Brs. verrucosa and Brs. gireoudiana. The hybrid was originated and registered by the legendary Oncidium hybridizer W.W.G. Moir in 1964. The clone 'Sakata' has been awarded a Highly Commended Certificate (77 points), an Award of Merit (82 points) and a Certificate of Cultural Merit (81 points) by the American Orchid Society. The AM plant had 56 flowers, 11 buds on nine growths. The natural vertical spread of the flowers was 22.4 cms.
