This species thrives in clay pots, mounted on cork slabs or in slat baskets. Prefers less water in winter, but bright shade (full morning sun until noon) during growing period. Tolerates both cooler and warmer temperatures, but prefers 45 °F to 95 °F. Enjoys frequent fertilizing and dislikes wet feet. It is very fragrant, and has been used in numerous hybrids to impart the ruffled lip and fragrance to its progeny. Now known as Rhyncholaelia digbyana
